How to clear 2190E Boot Screen

2025-05-28

If you see an issue where the 2190E gets stuck on the Boot Screen when powering it on, the scope may still be recoverable by following the steps below:

  1. Power off the oscilloscope.
  2. Wait a few seconds, then power it on again and immediately start pressing the MATH button rapidly multiple time (see image below showing MATH button).
  3. Keep pressing for a few seconds and the oscilloscope may pass the boot screen in some instances. If it does not pass the boot screen, try this procedure a couple of more times.
  4. If this procedure doesn't get you past the boot screen, try steps 1 through 3 again. It may take 3 or 4 more trys.
  5. If this procedure does get you past the boot screen, you may need to change back to your localized language by pressing UTILITY and go to the Language option from the menu to change the display language.

If the procedure above does not resolve the issue, you can try using a recovery drive. You will need a 4GB or 8GB USB drive. You can download the files and detailed instructions here: https://bkpmedia.s3.us-west-1.amazonaws.com/external/2190E_recovery_by_USB_driver.zip

If this does not resolve the issue with your 2190E you can contact Technical Support for additional assistance and please note that you have already attempted this recovery processes in your submitted request: https://www.bkprecision.com/support/request/technician
